Janelle Terkhorn, President
Janelle grew up in Indianapolis, moving to Bloomington in 2006. She graduated from Indiana University in 2010 with a degree in English. Her coursework was mainly focused on research and education. She and her husband currently homestead on their small hobby farm on the outskirts of Bloomington. They have one son at BMS and are pleased to be part of the Montessori family.
Alex Burch, Vice President
Alex Burch has been a BMS parent for two years with his older child currently in the Magnolia classroom. He has lived in Bloomington since 2010, with a few years' absence to live in China and D.C. Alex has degrees in economics, Chinese, and public administration, and has worked mostly in financial management with additional experience in data analysis, international legal compliance, and HR. He and his wife Kate also founded and ran an escape room in downtown Bloomington from 2017-2023. After being promoted to full-time homemaker in 2024, he has spent his free time learning more about meeting facilitation and organizational governance in support of his cohousing neighborhood.
Ricky Meade, Treasurer
Ricky has spent his professional life building a boutique wealth management practice helping families and businesses make smart decisions with their money. He and his family have lived in Bloomington since 2020, and he currently has 3 children attending BMS. He completed his undergraduate graduate degree at University of Michigan and holds a Juris Doctorate from University of Illinois.
He is excited to serve on the board as Treasurer and working hard to create a positive, generational impact on the school. Most of all, he is incredibly grateful for the school and the community that has formed around it.
Jack Gallalee, Secretary
Jack grew up in Chicago and has lived in Bloomington since 2010. After graduating from Knox College with a bachelor’s degree in Music, he’s spent his career driving buses for IU, teaching guitar, and working in regulatory affairs in the medical device and pharmaceutical industry. In his spare time, he enjoys playing pickup basketball, listening to and playing music that makes people dance, and spending time with his spouse and son. He also has a golden retriever who would love to meet you, and two cats who wouldn’t.
Adriana Fernandez, Member At-Large
Adriana Fernandez and her family have been proud members of the BMS community since 2021. She has served as Co-Chair of the BMS Parent Action Committee (PAC) for last three years and as a PAC member prior to that. In her time working with PAC, she has been involved with and helped to oversee school events, service-learning projects, and fundraising initiatives. She holds a Master’s degree in Performing Arts Management from the University of Iowa, and has worked as a freelance arts manager for nonprofit and academic institutions throughout the country. She taught in the Arts Management and Administration Program at Indiana University for seven years. Adriana has three children at Bloomington Montessori School and looks forward to the opportunity to serve on the Board and continue to support the BMS community.
Kellie Moss, Member At-Large
Kellie Moss is the founder and CEO of Moss & Co., a finance and operations firm that helps founder-led companies move from reactive growth to sustainable, profitable, scalable operations. She has spent more than a decade building the kind of operational infrastructure she now helps clients create. As a founding team member early in her career, she helped grow a company from a single sponsorship into a multimillion-dollar business, building the systems, processes and financial foundation that supported its growth. She is also co-founder of Scrambl, a software platform designed to give founders greater operational clarity, and a contributor to the Inc. Leadership Forum, where she writes about leadership and building well-run organizations.
Born and raised in San Luis Obispo County, California, Kellie moved to Bloomington from Los Angeles in 2020. She and her family have been part of the BMS community since 2023, with her older son in the Walnut classroom and her younger son in Sweetgum. She is honored to bring her background in finance, operations and organizational governance to the board. As a parent, she’s grateful for a school that has shaped both of her boys and treats curiosity, independence and character as the real curriculum.
Dejohn Rose, Member At-Large
DeJohn Rose is a co-owner of Andrew Davis Clothiers, a local men's clothing boutique. Born and raised in Bloomington, he has been a BMS parent for five years with a daughter in Walnut, and a son in Hickory. After graduating from the University of Arizona, he spent a decade working in the men's clothing industry in New York City before returning to his hometown in 2021 with his wife and two kids. He chairs the BMS development committee and is a member of the finance committee.
Garrett Schopp, Member At-Large
Garrett Schopp was born and raised in Bloomington IN where he attended Bloomington Montessori School through sixth grade. He holds degrees in operations, management, and law from Indiana University and works for National Salvage, a recycling company headquartered in Bloomington Indiana where he has worked both as an accounting Controller and an Operations Manager, overseeing the removal and disposal of 7,000,000 railroad ties annually. Garrett and his wife Ewa have two children - Isabella and Oliver - currently attending Montessori. He sits on the board of The Warehouse, a community center in Bloomington and both he and his wife are active volunteers in the Montessori community.
Anne Sterling, Member At-Large
Anne Sterling is the Vice President of State Affairs for the Humane Society of the United States, where she oversees the organization’s public policy efforts in 35 states in addition to investigations and research. She has extensive experience running legislative animal advocacy campaigns, managing a large, remote staff and working in the not-for-profit sector, having also worked for Kiwanis International and Habitat for Humanity in community building and fundraising. Anne’s son, Wilder, is a second grader at BMS in the Maple classroom. She is excited to join the BMS board and volunteer on behalf of its community of families and staff.
Lisa Ziemba, Member At-Large
Lisa Ziemba has been a member of the BMS Board since 2025 and currently serves on the Executive Committee. Lisa holds a Master of Business Administration from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University and previously served in HR leadership roles at MPC in Colorado, and Whirlpool in Michigan, where she led human resources strategy and organizational planning initiatives. She also brings significant nonprofit board leadership experience, having served successively as treasurer, vice president, and president of a philanthropic organization focused on youth development. She is enjoying this season at home with her three children and her husband, Steve. They returned to Bloomington in 2024, and her oldest child is a student in the Sweetgum Classroom.
