Reimagining Opera came for their annual show in the Bloomington Montessori School Commons, presenting The Lunchbox Project. Reimagining Opera for Kids is a non-profit organization that introduces children to opera through engaging first experiences and allows developing professional musicians to hone their performance skills. In this production, the cast comes together for lunch and explores all the different foods and cultures on display. Featuring music from six different contemporary composers, The Lunchbox Project celebrates diversity through different styles of music and food! This 30-minute performance introduces students to operatic style in an engaging format targeted toward elementary ages. The entire school gathered; it’s always so great to see the youngest and oldest students coming together in our community during moments like this special event.

Our own teacher Sam Cusack was pulled onstage during the show to dance with the characters during a Puerto Rican dance. A student also got in on the action and was pulled up to dance during the performance, as well. They both did great!
Thank you to Reimagining Opera for Kids (ROK) for the opportunity! It was so much fun!
