Supporting Learning Differences

Bloomington Montessori is a school that thrives on its ability to fulfill the vision of Maria Montessori through individualization to meet the needs of each child whenever possible. This can include a large team of support and a wide variety of accommodations. The Student Services administrator can help you understand and navigate this process.

Student Services typically fall into the following categories:

  • Academic Accommodations
  • Behavioral Accommodations
  • Physical Accommodations

For all student service areas, there are three tiers, denoting the extent of intervention needed. These are individually designed for each student, but can include:

  • Accommodations and scaffolding by the classroom teachers (tools, resources, one-on-one support, targeted small group instruction, etc.)
  • Support from the student services administrator (observation, assessment, and/or direct intervention/support)
  • Evaluation for special education services, usually taking place one-on-one or in small groups and provided in partnership with MCCSC.

The key to meeting any child’s needs is teamwork and communication, and we look forward to building partnerships with families and professionals to work together to find solutions to challenges.
