International Day of Peace
“Better than a thousand hollow words is one word that brings peace.” — The Buddha
The International Day of Peace is observed around the world every year on September 21. “Peace Day” was established by unanimous United Nations resolution in 1981 to provide a day for all people around the world to commit to peace and contribute to creating a culture of peace.
Peace education is part of the curriculum here at BMS, and on Peace Day the students come together to sing songs of peace, share inspirational quotes, and further strengthen their understanding of peace and what it means to make a culture of peace, setting aside our differences and working together.
Look for photos of our students’ celebration over the next few days, and take a moment today to ask your child(ren) how you can join them in making Bloomington a more peaceful place to live.
What does your family do to build peace? We’d love to hear from you.
“Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.” — President Barak Obama
We have a few volunteer opportunities available for parents. In particular, if you haveexpertise in Java, WordPress or Perl, please contact Teresa Mandell at email@example.com asap. Thank you!
