Laura Lasuertmer

Greetings Parents,

I am excited to meet your children and support their play and learning next school year. I’m joining the staff at BMS after six years at the Shalom Community Center, where I worked as a caseworker for families and individuals facing homelessness. In addition to my work experience, I have completed a Master’s Degree in International Development, and I have a BA in Spanish and Religious Studies from IU.

Along with my husband, David, I am the parent of two young children: Leo (1) and Alice (3). They are the ones who inspired me to learn about Montessori, and who teach me how to listen and love well. Our family is part of the Bloomington Catholic Worker, an intentional community composed of three families whose shared work is offering hospitality to the homeless.

In my day-dreams, and whenever I find some quiet time, I am a short-story writer. I love hiking and camping in the state parks, cycling to work, and growing tomatoes and flowers in our garden.

Thank you for the chance to work with your children. I look forward to meeting you!

All the best,

Laura Lasuertmer
